Flames are Blue and Round in Space

Flames are essentially hot gases. Hot gases rise because they are less dense than their surroundings. The gravitational pull of the earth makes things more dense close to the ground. Winds can also effect flames. But in space, we have neither gravity or winds.

Flames are basically stream of particles escaping from the burning item, at the same time, there are other particles moving towards it. For a flame that is lit on earth, oxygen gets consumed. We also get heat and light (energy). Because it generates this energy, it is hotter than the environment.

The reason the flame moves upward on earth is because the gases that are released when fire burns move upward to make more oxygen available to them so they can continue to burn.So that is why a flame in space will appear blue and round , due to lack of gravity.
